TATAMO! is a project that evolved from the need to effectively utilize tatami mat rushes, where rush straws too short for use in tatami are made into products instead. The shortest straws are used to make the Rebirth Pod.
We've created the vase by combining earth-friendly polylactide resins produced by recycling processes with the soft rush straws or other natural materials which may otherwise have been discarded.
You can enjoy using the vase in two ways: To hold a single flower, or as a flower pot. In addition to the soft rush straw vase, you may also select our vases made of driftwood and of sawdust.

This floor mat / wall paneling tatami has been designed to accentuate its beautifully detailed weaving. There are few modern interior designs that can skillfully incorporate the spirit of tatami, but by making it into small floor mats sized similarly to bricks, tatami can be used in a manner similar to wooden flooring. Instead of being used as tatami mats traditionally have been, we envision it being used as a new type of flooring material that can be utilized in all interior designs, bringing with it the pleasant aroma and natural feeling of soft rush. We make it possible for floors to be covered in natural tatami that is modern, yet maintains its introspective feeling.
The tea ceremony, martial arts and Japanese floral arrangement have traditionally been practiced on tatami. The spirituality and virtue of these traditions are revered by the Japanese to this day. When one thinks of a tatami for the body and soul in today's modern lifestyles, a connection to the practice of yoga can be made. When we focused on the theme of yoga in the product's design, a facet of tatami covers never before seen in its traditional form revealed itself. By practicing yoga on tatami, with its embodiment of ancient mannerisms and spirituality, the effects of yoga can be felt more naturally. The aroma of the soft rushes of the tatami also helps the individual to maintain a calm and relaxed state of being.
